Boulders

The textures on the surface of the print could represent the human body, how it changes as we age. A result of life experiences. I love how the stones stand unmoving, fixed, impervious, or lay littering the landscape. They are ravaged by the elements, their surfaces scored and smoothed.

On the lonely hills a human figure has the vitality and the poignancy of all man's struggles in this universe.

In creating this image the artist tries to find a synthesis of his human experience and the quality of the landscape.

Fascinated by the grooves and cracks in the surface of the gritstone. I watch the clouds moving quickly across the sky casting shadows over the land and making new patterns and patches of texture and colour.

Light gives full play to our tactile perceptions through the experience of our eyes, and the vitality of forms is revealed by the interplay between space and volume.
